``George was helpful with advice about ministry vision as I started a new church. His expertise was given in many areas from the design of our new building, to the forming of our church bylaws. He continues to be a source of knowledge and encouragement to me as the church grows.``

``The staff at Awana saw that he was a caliber of a man that was needed to further the World-Wide ministry of Awana. I found George to be joyfully aggressive and enthusiastic in whatever assignment he was given. I valued his absolute integrity, but most of all his wonderful love to serve our wonderful Lord in whatever way God wanted him.``

The Grace And Truth Scriptural Purpose Statement

For the law was given by Moses, but GRACE and TRUTH came by Jesus Christ. John 1:17

That which was given by Moses was terrifying and threatening (Hebrews 12:21)… a law bound with penalties which could not give life.

The Law is holy, just and good (Romans 7:12), but those seeking righteousness by attempting to fulfill its demands will discover the tragic fact that it is powerless to justify (Romans 3:20).

Jesus is the faithful Mediator of the New and Better Covenant (Hebrews 8:6). He does what Moses and the Covenant at Sinai could never do, namely, write the Law within our inward parts and upon our hearts so that we might truly be the people of God (Jeremiah 31:31-34). By means of His sacrificial death, the righteous demands of the Law are fullysatisfied.

We no longer seek righteousness by means of the maintenance of rituals or other ordinances (Titus 3:5), but by receiving the free gift of eternal life through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin (Ephesians 2:8-9). Now, enabled by the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to fulfill the requirements of the law based on a New Covenant relationship with God (Galatians 2:16). Because of the victory of the Son of God over sin, death and hell, we do not strive for acceptance before the Father; on the contrary, we abide in it (Ephesians 1:6).

The offers of grace are made sincerely as it is partnered with truth. The reliability of the Lord (1 Kings 8:56) is demonstrated in the Old Testament as we often find mercy and truthput together (Psalm 85:10), that is, mercy according to promise; so here (John 1:17) graceand truth refer to grace according to promise.

It is the substance of all the Old Testament types and shadows. Something of grace was both in the ordinances that were instituted for Israel and the providences that were related to Israel; but they were only shadows of good things to come (Hebrews 10:1), even of the grace that is to be brought to us by the revelation of Jesus Christ. He is the true passover lamb and the true manna.

They had grace in the picture; we have grace in the Person, which is, GRACE and TRUTH.
